Spring in New York can get a little…confusing. One day it will be 60 degrees and sunny and the next it could be 20 with snow in the forecast. None the less dressing for spring is just so much more fun than winter! One of my goals for this year was to be more conscious of what I had in my wardrobe and to “shop my closet”. I was inspired by The Closet Journal and her year of outfits project. I picked 13 pieces to create a minimal and polished spring capsule wardrobe.
Spring Capsule Wardrobe
I created 6 outfits from the pieces, but you can get creative and find so many more combinations. Tie or tuck a shirt and you have a whole different look. You can also easily add another layer to these looks with a cardigan or trench coat for extra chilly days.
I kept the color pallet pretty neutral but I did add a baby pink for a fun spring pop of color. Neutral colors are easy to mix and match, and allow you to add in some fun with items like your jewelry or your bag.
A capsule wardrobe is easy to maintain and makes choosing your outfit for the day simple. If you’re going for a specific style a capsule wardrobe is a great way to keep your outfits consistent with what you want to achieve.
If I’ve learned anything this year so far while “shopping my closet” it’s that there’s so many more outfits than you think! Adding in a couple basics can unlock dozens of more looks with pieces you already had.
