How You Can Shop My Blog and Instagram Posts

If you follow any bloggers or influencers on social media you probably already know by now that the main way we make money off our content is through affiliate links.

We’re also coming up on probably the biggest shopping season of the year. You’ll probably be overloaded with recommendations from you favorite bloggers in the upcoming weeks, so it’s good to know how to shop those products so that you can get the great deals we talk about

For me personally, blogging is more of a hobby that I really haven’t made any money from nor have I really put much effort into trying, but for a lot of people that’s their main source of income.

How it works

One of the biggest players for affiliate links in the fashion blogging world is LiketoKnow.it, but that’s not the only one there is. Shop Style is another great choice, that is much easier to get started with and in my opinion better for those that don’t have a super loyal base yet.

The way that a lot of affiliate links work is that the creator only gets pair IF the person who clicked on it actually buys something. With Shop Style you have the option of getting paid-per-click which is just what it sounds like or getting paid like I just described, when someone actually buys something. You’re going to make a higher percentage of the latter, but for newbies who may not have as many readers willing to buy what they recommend yet I think paid-per-click isn’t so bad.

How you can shop my posts

I try to make it super easy for you guys to find the products that I talk about in my posts. Sometimes I can’t find the exact item in Shop Style but I will always link an alternative in the same price range if that’s the case.

You can shop directly from my blog posts, or off my Instagram, and I’m going to walk you through both those methods.

From my blog

In every blog post there is a widget, usually at the bottom, which is little pictures of each item I’ve linked. Clicking on these will take you directly to the site that the item is on, where you can then purchase it. This is probably the most straight forward option to shopping from my site.

Let’s say though, that you saw something you wanted to buy but can’t remember what post I talked about it in and don’t want to spend the time searching. No problem!

At the top of my site there is a tab that says “Shop my Posts”. If you click on that, it will take you to my Shop Style page where you’ll get an Instagram style display of photos featured on my Instagram and blog. Clicking on one of those will enlarge the picture and give you a list below of everything linked. Click on you desired item and you’ll once again be directed right to it.

From my Instagram

Shopping from my Instagram is pretty similar to the second option I just gave for shopping from my blog, but getting there is a little different.

In my Instagram bio there is a link that will take you to a page on my blog conveniently named links. This is only accessible through my Instagram bio or if you type in the URL directly because this page is specifically set up for mobile users.

Once you’re on this page find the box that says “Shop my Instagram” and click it. This will take you to that same Instagram-esqe page on shop style that I mentioned before where you can click on any photo to find the linked items.

I try my hardest to get these photos/items linked before they go live but I’m human and sometimes I forget. If that’s ever the case and you really want a link to something I feature please do not hesitate to DM or email me! I’ll get you the link directly and it’ll remind me to update my Shop Style.

So what if something isn’t linkable through the interface I use? Well I’ll always try to link similar items in similar price points like I mentioned before, but I also try to tag things in my Instagram photos and captions, especially if I can’t link them other ways.

The same goes for my blog. If I really like a specific item and want you guys to know that exact item, I’ll put a direct site link that I won’t get commission from in the text of the post, because the most important thing to me is quality recommendations, not just making money from my readers.
